News for 30 November 2004
Randie is much more active today and showing improvement. Her doctors have found no evidence of the bowel perforation that can occur with this type of infection, so fortunately surgery will not be required.

News for 29 November 2004
Randie is thankfully showing improvement. The x-rays that are taken every 6 hours of her abdomen are still showing the infection, but the redness on her stomach is reduced as is the swelling.

News for 28 November 2004
Randie is now back on a ventilator to help with her breathing while she fights the infection. She has also been put on to morphine by IV to help keep her comfortable.

News for 27 November 2004
Randie unfortunately suffered a setback today. Her nurse noticed strange temperature changes and her doctors diagnosed Necrotizing Enterocolitis which is an infection of the bowel. A course of IV antibiotics was started immediately and we must now wait 48-72 hours to see that they are helping our little darling.

News for 24 November 2004
Randie is doing well as always and gaining weight at a good rate - 37g over the last 2 days. Feeding is now IV supplemented with 5 cc of milk or formula every 2 hours.

News for 18 November 2004
Randie is doing great. She can breathe on her own, all blood and other test results are normal, and she has gained 8g in 2 days! Feeding is currently via IV fluids, although milk is expected to be introduced over the next couple of days.
